ST. PANTELEON

Bulgarians call this holiday “Pantelei” or “Pantelei the traveller” because of the notion that migratory birds begin to gather in flocks and prepare for a long journey on this day. Candles are lit and placed on fig trees, and dew is collected from their leaves. Loaves are distributed in honor of the saint.
