SPAS’S DAY

It is celebrated on the 40th day following Easter. It is associated with the cult of the dead in the Bulgarian calendar. According to superstition, on this day the Lord gathers the souls of all the dead who have been set free after Maundy Thursday. On this day, early in the morning, people go to cemeteries and distribute bread and boiled wheat for God’s sake.
