INTERNATIONAL BAGPIPE COMPETITION IN THE VILLAGE OF GELA

Every year at the beginning of August, families from the local region get together on Elijah’s meadows near the Rhodopi village of Gela in order to reflect and have fun. This tradition is followed up to this day, as it preserves the wealth of folk music in the Rhodope Mountains.

The conceptualization and the organization of bagpipe competitions on these meadows originate from this precise tradition.
