FESTIVAL OF THE CHERRY

The first exhibition of vegetable crops in the country was in the town of Kyustendil in 1896, when the First National Vegetable Exhibition was announced. In Kyustendil, the cherry is part of the life and culture of the local population. It is protected, loved and cared for, and symbolizes the hopes for future well-being. It is included in numerous rituals and poetry verses. Cherries are a symbol of benevolence. They are harbingers of summer, and a gateway to the prosperity and success of the Kyustendil region.
