Open Call for volunteers – Team 1 (2025)

in Ancient town Heraclea Sintica, Petrich town, Bulgaria | 24.06.2025 – 07.08.2025

About the location:

The Ancient city Heraclea Sintica was founded in the 4th century BC, and for more than 100 years, scholars have been arguing about where the city is located. The city is named after the mythical hero Heracles (Hercules), who is considered the founder of the dynasty of ancient Macedonian kings. In ancient times, Heraclea Sintica was the main city in the northeastern borders of the ancient Macedonian kingdom. From here, Alexander the Great set off on a campaign against neighboring Thracian tribes before conquering the vast Persian Empire. In the middle of the 2nd century BC. Heraclea Sintica was conquered by the Romans. The city was patronized by Octavian Augustus himself – the founder of the Roman Empire.

^_WHAT:

• Helping in the archaeological ruins and Archaeological museums.
• Historical and cultural awareness and actions for populating the region.
• 2 volunteers will be tour-guides

PARTICIPANTS:   16 youth (18-29 years old), eligible countries: Bulgaria, Greece, France, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Spain, and Turkey

PROFILE of participants:

• Working language – English (or at least one participant per country have to know English very good and to help of the rest of the participants from the same country);
• Participants that study Archaeology or History or unemployment youth people with interest in the topic,
• An experience in youth programs is not obligatory

WHAT SUPPORT is insured:

• Your accommodation;
• House related expenses (electricity and water);
• Money for personal needs, food and transport: 1035 euro;
• Insurance (45 days project period + 2 months after project dates)

RULES of program European Solidarity Corps:

You should have your SENDING ORGANIZATION from your country, that will prepare you before leaving and will be in contact with you on the time of the project.
